Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon – Mr Gareth Stables MBChB, FRCS (Ed) T&O
Cheshire Orthopaedic surgeon, Mr Gareth Stables, specialises in knee surgery, and sports injuries. In particular, keyhole (also known as arthroscopic) knee surgery, ligament surgery, knee osteotomy and joint replacement surgery. He has over 12 years of experience in the field having qualified in 1998 from the University of Liverpool Medical School.
Mr Stables undertook his specialist training in orthopaedic surgery in Cheshire and Merseyside. It was in 2010 that he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Working at Wrightington Hospital Mr Stables completed a fellowship in hip and knee surgery.
To further his interest in sports knee surgery and knee replacement surgery Mr Stables undertook a fellowship at The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, the largest teaching hospital of its kind in Europe! Here he also developed skills in knee ligament and cartilage surgery.
An accomplished surgeon, Mr Stables has published work in peer-reviewed journals and made contributions to orthopaedic book chapters. He has presented his research at both national and international meetings.
He is actively involved in high quality research and is a Principal Investigator for a number of National and International multicentre clinical trials, leading to improvements in patient experience and outcomes.
At present Mr Gareth Stables practices at the Cheshire and Merseyside Treatment Centre, Spire Cheshire Hospital and at The Wilmslow Hospital, 52 Alderley Road, Wilmslow. He also maintains a keen interest in general orthopaedic trauma at Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Consultant Radiologist – Dr Mark Caplan MB ChB, DMRD, FRCR
Consultant Radiologist Dr Mark Caplan qualified from the University of Liverpool in 1984. He was appointed as a consultant radiologist at Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in 1990.
Dr Caplan is a highly regarded and experienced musculoskeletal (MSK) radiologist and has developed a specialist interest in Magnetic Resonance Imaging(MRI) of orthopaedic conditions and also vascular ultrasound. Dr Caplan is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
Dr Caplan practices at the Spire Cheshire Hospital.
Consultant Radiologist – Dr Akash Ganguly
Dr Ganguly trained as a general radiologist with a year of subspecialty placement in musculoskeletal (MSK) imaging. He has been an horonary lecturer of clinical radiology at the Mersey School of Radiology and the University of Liverpool and he continues to take an active role in trainee teaching.
Dr Ganguly’s main area of interest is musculoskeletal imaging including various ultrasound guided MSK intervention.
