MyKnee™ Specialist Knee Replacement

The MyKnee™ is a surgical instrument system that is tailor-made to fit your knee precisely. Helping you get rid of your knee pain and get mobile and active again.

“Accurate, reproducible and precise positioning of your knee replacement can mean a more natural feeling knee, less blood loss and better outcomes both in the short and long term.”

The MyKnee is a patient-specific system, that allows your surgeon to plan your surgery in detail, in the office, making sure that the important decisions about implant size and positioning are made before your surgery and designed to your personal needs. The technology then allows your surgeon to realise their pre-operative 3-D planning, based on CT or MRI images of your knee.

This innovative concept combines different features giving potential benefits to both your surgeon and you.

  • Accurate implant positioning.
  • No need for rods to be inserted into your thigh bone like a standard knee replacement
  • Less blood loss
  • Reproducible results
  • Designed around you
  • Interactive 3D web planning.

What’s involved in the MyKnee knee replacement process?

There are 5 steps involved in the MyKnee knee replacement system. Once you have had a full consultation with your surgeon and you have decided to go ahead with your surgery the following process will begin

Step 1. Get an accurate image of your knee.

The surgeon will ask you to have a diagnostic scan (Ct or Magnetic resonance) of your leg (can usually be arranged within days)

Step 2. Produce a model of your knee.

The Medacta 3-Dengineering team will create a provisional plan from the diagnostic scan in order to select the best implant for you. Based on your personal characteristics and your surgeon’s preferences. Your surgeon will then check the plan , make amendments if needed, before validating the surgical plan. Only then will the plastic 3-D model of your knee be created in order to select the best implant for you.

Step 3. Creation of the MyKnee patient matched instruments.

Using the model of your knee, Medacta, together with your surgeon will create your personalised surgical instrument / guides.

Step 4. Preparing for your surgery.

Prior to the surgery, your surgeon will receive the MyKnee instruments and a plastic replica of your knee. This will be analysed to prepare accurately for your knee operation.

Step 5. Enjoy your new knee !
